Herb Recipes
There is nothing better than using the herbs from your garden to make easy and tasty recipes.
Herb Cheese Plate Recipe
This recipe makes a fabulous dish to bring to any gathering like a pot luck, BBQ or buffet style dinner. Everytime I bring this to a party I get compliments and questions. Everyone wants to know what the different herbs are so it is a great conversation starter. I also label the dish with toothpicks and labels and it draws a lot of interest. P.S. - Don't forget the crackers!
Ingredients:
Any kind of cheese. I like to use several kinds to give the dish color.
Any kind of fresh herbs such as Dill, Rosemary, Thyme, Sage, Savory, Chives, Basil etc.
Directions:
Cut cheese with cheese cutter for uniform slices. Rearrange cheese on plate leaving space between each row of cheese.
Cover cheese and put into fridge until just ready to go then fresh cut herbs just before you leave for the party so they wont be too droopy.
Place herbs in between rows of cheese and cover.
Store in the frigde.
When you get to the party take off the lid on the cheese tray and the cheese will smell very frangrant from the herbs.
Herb Butter Recipe
My favorite herbed butter recipe is dill with some garlic salt served on warm bread.I have been served this type of butter in fine restaurants so I though I would duplicate it using organic herbs and no preservatives because we like to eat healthy.
Ingredients:
Dried herbs such as Rosemary, Dill, Thyme, Sage, Savory, Chives, Basil etc.
1/2 stick of butter softened to room temperature
Directions:
put butter in a bowl.
grind up herb of your choice either with your fingers or a chop chop so it is fine.
mix butter and herb with a spoon.
flavor usually gets stronger after it sits for a bit so don't overdue it too much with the dried herbs.
store in fridge until ready for use (up to a few days).
spread on hot bread for a savory delicious aromatic butter just like the finest restaurants serve.
