Deviled Eggs Recipe
This yummy recipe is always a hit at parties and gatherings. My grandmother used to make deviled eggs for family gatherings and there were never enough to go around they usually disappear quickly.Deviled eggs are inexpensive to make and the following recipe will make 12 deviled eggs for about $2.00.
Delicious Deviled Eggs Recipe
Ingredients:
6 hard-boiled eggs, shelled and cut in half
¼ cup Light Mayonnaise or Salad Dressing
½ teaspoon dry ground mustard or regular mustard
1/8 teaspoon salt
Paprika for garnish
Chives for garnish optional
Directions:
Remove the egg yolks with a spoon or your fingers. Put egg yolks in a small bowl and mash them with a fork. Add mayonnaise, mustard, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly. Fill the empty egg white shells with the yolk mixture and sprinkle lightly with paprika. Garnish with chives.
Helpful Hints:
- In a hurry? Cool hardboiled eggs by first running them under cold water then add ice cubes to cool them down faster.
- When mixing the yolks add the mayo and mustard then taste it. If the mixture needs more mayo add some until the consistency and taste is just right. Be careful when adding more mustard, because it's hard to fix if you put too much in.
- Spoon yolk mixture into a plastic sandwich bag and cut off one of the corners and pipe into the egg white.
- Eggs should never sit out for more than an hour. To help keep them fresh place ice in a bowl up to the rim and then set the plate on top of the bowl.
- People who are on a low fat, low cholesterol diet need to use moderation when eating deviled eggs.
- You can cover with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator before serving
